Cuneo Civic Museum - Presbytery Area
Presbyterial area of the fourteenth-century church
During the construction of the fifteenth-century structure, the presbyterial sector of the fourteenth-century church, which was accessed through a passage in the southern wall, remained in function until the mid-fifteenth century.
Today, a section of wall, preserved to a height of 55 cm, is visible, dividing the eastern end of the south nave from the presbytery, with brick pillars at the ends. Traces of two steps leading to the apse are also preserved, where the base of an altar dating from the same period as the more recent flooring from the 14th century remains.
The presence of two construction phases of the first church is evidenced not only by two different floors but also by two different phases of plaster, visible on the southern wall of the nave, close to the apse termination.
