The 2026/2027 Season of the Toselli Theatre, created by the City of Cuneo in collaboration with the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo: fifteen shows for a programme that dedicates great attention to civil narration, with insights into current issues, involving transversal figures from pop culture and ranging across hybrid formats, including contemporary dance with an event of the We Speak Dance.

The first show on the program, on November 19th , is dedicated to a tragic episode in recent history: OLTRE. How 16+29 People Went Through the Andes Disaster retraces the dramatic story of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in 1972. More than fifty years later, Fabiana Iacozzilli and Linda Dalisi reached Montevideo and met with some survivors, collecting their firsthand accounts, documents, and memories, which are brought to life on stage through the performances of seven performers accompanied by life-size puppets created by Paola Villani. On November 27th , Giulio Cesare o la notte della repubblica (Julius Caesar or the Night of the Republic) will be performed , directed by Marco Lorenzi and dramatized by Lorenzi and Lorenzo De Iacovo. The show draws inspiration from Shakespeare's famous drama to explore the connection between power, the individual, and the fragility of contemporary democracies. above all, the monologues of the ghost of Julius Caesar hover, entrusted to the video participation of Danilo Nigrelli.

One of the most famous cult mangas is transformed, thanks to Linda Dalisi, into a contemporary reflection on convention, power, and the courage to pursue one's ideals. Oscar, on stage on December 5th , directed by Antonio Latella and starring Sonia Bergamasco —who already won the Nastro d'Argento for The Best of Youth and the Ubu Prize in 2021/22—follows the journey of a woman raised as a man by her father's will and destined for a prestigious position at the French court. Against the backdrop of the events leading up to the French Revolution, Oscar grapples with the themes of identity, freedom, and personal choice.

A brutal crime, one of the most shocking crime stories of recent years, becomes a theatrical production and arrives in Cuneo on December 10th . Freely based on Nicola Lagioia 's bestseller, with direction, video, and dramaturgical adaptation by Ivonne Capece , La città dei vivi questions the boundary between narrative and reality, artistic need and existential obsession, bringing into play digital languages, live performances, and virtual actors. Running on January 16th , Liberidì Liberidà is a monologue written and performed by Sabina Guzzanti , who returns to her audience with her cutting irony: in this corrosive social critique, Guzzanti reflects on freedom in an era of change and uncertainty, blending politics, work, and technology, inviting spectators to reflect on what it means to be truly free.

In Ilva Football Club , scheduled for January 24th , the history of Europe's largest steel mill intertwines with the legend of a small team born right under the Ilva smokestacks, to tell the story of the fate of a sacrificial city, which today is Taranto but tomorrow could be any other. The show, conceived and produced by Usine Baug together with the Maniglio Brothers and inspired by the novel by Fulvio Colucci and Lorenzo D'Alò, is the winner of the CURA 2022 call for proposals and is recommended for ages 13 and up. There's more space for civic theater and the most pressing issues of recent history in Stefano Massini 's Lo zar , with two performances on February 9th and 10th . Drawing on autobiographical narratives by Vladimir Putin, the show intertwines speeches and conferences against the backdrop of the collapse of the Soviet system, covering half a century of Russian history. Published by Einaudi and currently being translated into eighteen languages, the play is coming to the theatre after its prime-time television version, which saw Massini play Putin in spring 2026, garnering widespread media attention.

Winner of the ANCT Critics' Award, Misurare il salto delle rane (Measuring the Frog's Leap) is expected at the Teatro Toselli on February 15th: a dark comedy set in a small fishing village in the 1990s, Carrozzeria Orfeo is a poetic and tragicomic investigation of the contemporary human condition. A female-led work, in which the three performers Elsa Bossi, Marina Occhionero , and Chiara Stoppa —nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2026 Le Maschere del Teatro Italiano Award—embody three different generations, directed by Gabriele Di Luca (who also wrote the play) and Massimiliano Setti.
The program continues on February 26th with Wunder Tandem: a concert-show with a clownish soul, born as a busking project, featuring unpredictable mash-ups, hits reinvented for acoustic use, and comic gags that transform each performance into an explosion of music and theater.

On March 12th, Elio —of the well-known group Elio e le Storie Tese—in the show "The Revaluation of Sadness " embarks on a journey to discover a feeling that is now feared or repressed, yet which permeates the history of art and every form of human expression. Through the words and music of great artists from the Italian and international musical tradition, the show restores sadness to its most noble and necessary dimension, thanks also to a full-fledged live band on stage featuring pianist Alberto Tafuri, who has accompanied Elio on many musical adventures, from X Factor to the shows of recent years.

Directed by Massimo Popolizio and starring Umberto Orsini, Before the Storm will be performed twice on March 20 and 21.An old actor waits to take the stage to play the protagonist of August Strindberg's play: the result is an intimate and delicate portrait of the actor's craft and, at the same time, a journey through Italian history from the post-war period to the present, in a highly evocative setting.

"If I Can't Dance... It's Not My Revolution" brings to the stage in Cuneo on March 31st, a collaboration between Serena Dandini —the show is inspired by her text, "The Catalogue of Valorous Women " —Lella Costa , and Serena Sinigaglia . From Marie Curie to Tina Anselmi, from Olympe de Gouges to Pina Bausch, from Emily Dickinson to Ilaria Alpi: extraordinary women who have changed history, without receiving the recognition they deserve, find a voice in a mosaic of talent and courage.

On April 3, Lino Guanciale and Gianmarco Saurino will stage Flusso, a "monologue for two actors" in which a single character splits between the child he once was and the man he now is. A poetic exploration of the meaning of identity and time, of growing up, dying, and the impossibility of ceasing to exist.

The program continues on April 17th with The Future Ruling Class ; born from a long process of listening and collecting testimonies, Caterina Marino 's show (which we also find on stage) transforms the authentic words of children into an ironic, poetic, and surprisingly lucid theatrical tale.

The program concludes on April 22nd with Francesca Santamaria 's "Good Vibes Only (the great effort) ," an event that intertwines the We Speak Dance and Playtime festivals . The second chapter of a trilogy, the project stems from observation of the social network TikTok, launched in 2022, and translates into infinite scrolling, both acted upon and endured by a human, according to the logic of hyper-performativity and the incessant stratification of content. However, precisely in this frenetic mechanism, the unexpected emerges: the "non-performative," that is, that human and visceral error that undermines the choreographic mechanism. Playtime , a project conceived by the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo in collaboration with the Stranaidea Social Enterprise, is aimed at secondary school classes in the region, with the aim of introducing them to the languages of performance art. We Speak Dance is a regional dance festival, conceived by the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo to expand the traditional prose offerings of its theater seasons with a multidisciplinary approach. This specific program, featuring major names from the Italian and international scene, celebrates the universal language of dance, bringing the excellence of dance and the spirit of major festivals to provincial theaters.

Patrizia Manassero , Mayor of Cuneo , and Cristina Clerico , Councilor for Culture , stated : "The theater is not just a place: it is the perimeter within which a community recognizes itself, engages in dialogue, and grows. For our city, which preserves a deep-rooted tradition, presenting a new season at the Teatro Toselli therefore means renewing a pact of cultural citizenship that is passed down from generation to generation. This year's proposal stems from a specific ambition: to bring memory into dialogue with the future. We have built a path that unites established names on the national scene, undisputed masters of directing and acting, innovative perspectives on contemporary dramaturgy, and new talents capable of breaking down conventions and sparking new curiosity. It's not a question of choosing between tradition and avant-garde, but of inhabiting the space in which these two souls enrich each other." The stage is indeed a mirror of our complex times: programming cannot fail to take this into account, and so on stage you will find current events and profound reflections on the civil issues affecting our society. We will tell History with a capital "H," but also the small, immense individual stories that help decipher the present. In an age of isolated and digital cultural consumption, the theater is, on the contrary, an outpost for real-time encounters and sharing: coming together to share an emotion and spark critical thinking. Bon voyage to all our spectators.

Matteo Negrin, Director of Piemonte dal Vivo , adds : "For Piemonte dal Vivo, a theater season is a renewed pact between the theater and its community, capable of fostering dialogue between artists, programmers, and audiences. Working together with local authorities, the Foundation creates unique programs that combine artistic quality, great performers, and new generations of creatives. Through theater, dance, music, and contemporary circus, the program offers tools for navigating the complexity of the present. Theater thus confirms its role as an essential public space, understood as a place of encounter, listening, imagination, and shared responsibility."
