Cuneo Civic Library - Legal Deposit
Legal deposit
Preserving and promoting Italy's editorial output, preserving the memory of Italian culture and social life: this is the purpose of the legislation on the legal deposit of publications.
In 2004, Law 106, Rules relating to the legal deposit of documents of cultural interest intended for public use, was promulgated, which provides for the creation of two archives of Italian editorial production: a national one, at the central national libraries of Rome and Florence, and a regional one.
The Civic Library of Cuneo preserves one of the two copies of the regional archive of printed materials published in the Province of Cuneo.
The legal deposit requirement requires that publications be deposited by the publisher or the person responsible for publication. The depositary institutions, to which mandatory copies must be sent, must be identified based on the publisher's location and the type of material produced.
These pages contain regulatory references and all the information needed to fulfill this obligation.
