Cuneo Civic Museum - Pre-Protohistory
The Pre-Protohistory Section
It houses archaeological finds mainly from the Cuneo area, dating back to the period between the Paleolithic and the Iron Age.
Remains of ancient fauna and artifacts testify to the evolution of the population.
We point out here the Paleolithic remains of Ursus spelaeus (Grotte del Bandito, Roaschia, Valle Gesso; Grotte di Bossea, Val Corsaglia), the Neolithic finds from the settlements under shelter (Aisone, Valle Stura), the casts of the rock engravings of the Monte Bego region and the artefacts from the Metal Age, among which the folded sword from a cremation burial from Borgo S. Dalmazzo, the spear head from Cuneo, the funerary urn found in Chiusa Pesio and the cast of the stele in the Etruscan alphabet and language from Busca, the original of which is now preserved at the Museum of Antiquities in Turin, stand out.
