Julius Caesar, or the Night of the Republic draws inspiration from Shakespeare's celebrated drama to explore the connection between power, the individual, and the fragility of contemporary democracies. The goal is twofold: to radically engage with one of the Bard's most powerful texts and to draw inspiration from the collapse of the Roman Republic to interrogate our present.
What drives rebellion, even armed rebellion? What is our relationship with freedom and responsibility? What role do the media play in our perception of reality? As Caesar's ghost says, "Every age loves those who dominate it, Brutus, not those who question it."
