In Ilva Football Club, the history of Europe's largest steel mill intertwines with the legend of a small team born right beneath the Ilva smokestacks, to tell the story of the fate of a sacrificeable city, which today is Taranto but tomorrow could be anywhere else. The UN report itself defines the city as a "sacrifice zone," one of those places where the state has prioritized the production of goods over its citizens' right to health. With lightheartedness and irony, the show analyzes the over 60-year history of the steel hub, showing how the promise of progress and prosperity slowly turned into disillusionment, anger, imprisonment, and blackmail.
