Cuneo Library System - Nuto Revelli Foundation
Nuto Revelli Foundation
The Nuto Revelli Onlus Foundation was founded in January 2006, two years after the death of Nuto Revelli – a writer, partisan, and researcher of peasant memory – in the belief that the best way to remember him is to publicize and continue his work.
Founded on the initiative of the family and a group of friends and scholars, the Foundation established its headquarters in the writer's home in Cuneo, at Corso Brunet 1, adapting the premises to house the extensive archive, deemed of notable national historical interest by the Superintendency, dedicated to the Resistance and the ethno-anthropological studies conducted for the writing of the books Il mondo dei vinti and L'anello forte, published by Einaudi.
The Foundation is one of the most important oral history archives in Italy: it preserves and enhances over a thousand hours of recordings, recently restored and digitized, as well as sixty linear meters of photographs, letters, and testimonies on the Second World War, the struggle for liberation from Nazism, the Alpine troops in Russia, and the rural world.
Every year, it organizes a competition for schools entitled Remembering Nuto and a national prize for immigrant and non-immigrant citizens entitled Writing Elsewhere, in collaboration with Mai Tardi – Friends of Nuto Association.
She is a member of the AICI – Association of Italian Cultural Institutes, the Landscapes of Memory coordination group, and the Network for the Return to Abandoned Places in Italy. She collaborates with the Polo del '900 in Turin.
