ZoÉ in the city
This year, the APS Zaratan and the Circo Zoé company are bringing the Zoé in Città Festival literally to the city of Cuneo, at the Monumental Complex of San Francesco in Piazza Virginio.
The sixth edition of the festival will take place from June 26th to July 6th and, despite the change of venue, it continues to pursue its mission: to offer a never-ending laboratory of art, thought, and social initiatives. Every year is a journey, and this year's theme is "NATURE AGAINST.".
In contemporary debate, we're almost suffocated by the almost systematic attempt to take for granted what isn't. No concept is given once and for all; we humans build our ideas brick by brick, and our categories, our thoughts, adapt to who we are, to how we see our world. The idea of "nature" is no exception; indeed, some societies (ours included) need this idea to interface with the world that goes beyond the human, cultural world.
But where is the line between what is called "natural" and what is not? The idea of nature is thus contested and exploited to defend purely cultural and limited habits and traditions, but which are desired to be eternal and immutable: when one does not follow certain conventions and customs... then one becomes "against nature." But what does it mean to be "against nature"? Zoé in the city reverses being "against nature" into "AGAINST NATURE": the attitude lies in always thinking critically, and in trying to overturn stereotypes and prejudices.
