Why We Need the Goddess
Presentation of Donatella Signetti's book
The city of Cuneo hosts, in the prestigious Hall of Honor of the Town Hall, the presentation of Donatella Signetti, Why We Need the Goddess (Aragno Edizioni, 2025).
A work born from the urgent need to bring to light the memory of the Great Goddess, the first image of the divine, a symbol of life, relationships, and transformation. Drawing on archaeology, mythology, Jungian psychology, and anthropology, the book addresses a crucial question: what happened when the voice of the Goddess was silenced?
The erasure of the divine feminine has accompanied the rise of warrior myths and patriarchal religions, generating profound imbalances in culture and society. This is where the possible origins of gender violence, which the author explores with rigor and passion, opening a space for reflection on how to reconcile the polarities of masculine/feminine, spirit/matter, visible/invisible.
The meeting will be opened by Cristina Clerico, Councilor for Culture for the Municipality of Cuneo.
A conversation with the author will follow, along with Edmondo Lupieri (Loyola University Chicago, author of the preface) and Ludovica Eugenio (director of Adista, author of the afterword).
The event will be an opportunity to reflect on spirituality, ecology, relationships, and narratives, but also to question how archaic myths can still illuminate the roots of inequality and gender-based violence in the present.
