Book presentation "The Journey of the Resistance" From the Varaita Valley to the Belbo Valley
On Thursday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m., in the rooms of the Casa Galimberti Museum in Cuneo (Piazza Galimberti, 6), the updated 2025 reprint of Paolo Calvino, "The Journey of the Resistance. From the Varaita Valley to the Belbo Valley,"
Thirty stages, thirty days of walking through the places that shaped the history of the rebellion against Nazi-fascism in the Cuneo area: this guide, featuring itineraries across the plains, hills, and mountains, is a total immersion in the sites of the Resistance, combining detailed and faithful historical reconstructions of the partisan struggle with physical participation and remembrance tourism. The first part presents a general introduction and instructions for preparing the trip, while the second illustrates the thirty one-day stages, with historical information about the places visited and detailed hiking directions. The reader will be transported from Cuneo to Verzuolo, and through the Varaita, Maira, Grana, Stura, Gesso, Vermenagna, and Pesio valleys, all the way to Alta Langa and Santo Stefano Belbo, among the hills of Beppe Fenoglio and Cesare Pavese. A dual journey, in which body and memory walk hand in hand.
