Pinocchio, the absolute nose

On Thursday, October 9th, the Cuneo Civic Library will host a presentation of Guido Giordano 's book , Pinocchio, the Absolute Nose . Art historian Enrico Perotto and publisher Dino Aloi will be present . During the event, an introductory video greeting by Pier Francesco Bernacchi , President of the Collodi Foundation, will be shown. The Library's Hall of Honor will host an exhibition of some original plates from the book, which will be open until October 30th.

Guido Giordano, an architect, multitasking artist, and multifaceted figure, has throughout his career tackled drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, comics, and humorous cartoons, using media ranging from bronze to brass, glass, ceramic, and even rubber. After his experience adapting Guillaume Apollinaire's Les Onze Mille Verges into comics/illustration , for which he drew over 250 panels entirely in ballpoint pen—a small masterpiece brimming with over 750 quotations from the world of art and culture—this time the artist has tackled Pinocchio , one of the most printed and illustrated texts in the world. Guido Giordano has proposed an innovative experiment, creating his own version of Pinocchio, accompanied by 300 color illustrations. The text is based on the original by Carlo Lorenzini but often features the author's own incursions, indicated with a different typeface, designed to justify the presence of drawings that go far beyond the classical perception we have of the story.

GUIDO GIORDANO
Born in Cuneo in 1947, he graduated in architecture under Carlo Mollino in 1972. His numerous artistic projects include designing the furnishings for the Collegiate Church of Carmagnola and the church of Sant'Ambrogio in Cuneo. He created the bronze portal for the church of Madonna delle Grazie in Cuneo.
For six years, he collaborated with La Stampa, Stampa Sera, and Torino Sette, producing images of the city of Turin. He published the character "Flappo" for the magazine Alter Linus.
He has held exhibitions at Palazzo Salmatoris in Cherasco and at the Peano Foundation in Cuneo.
He has created modern bindings for important Turin collectors such as Livio Ambrogio and Francesco Federico Cerruti.
The exhibition "Un'idea voluminosa," humorous digressions on the theme of books, was hosted by the Piedmont Library System.
In 2018, he created Les Onze Mille Verges, based on the story by Guillaume Apollinaire, for the publisher Il Pennino.
We remember his drawing, located in the passage between Palazzo Chiablese and Piazzetta Reale, which illustrates the Royal Museums of Turin.
