The event, titled "New Urbanities," presents the public with a clarifying theme: many people experience shop closures, empty spaces, and neighborhood transformations as a vague "decline." A structured reading, however, that highlights causes and mechanisms—from e-commerce to new ways of traveling and consuming, to the intermingling of customs and cultures—can clarify why certain dynamics emerge and how they interconnect. This reduces the polarization between nostalgia and modernity and shifts the discussion from judgments ("it was better before" / "it's inevitable") to the possibility of managing transformations with design and social choices: mixed use of spaces, a mix of physical and e-commerce, the quality of public space, proximity, and opportunities for encounter.
