Our Lady of Mount Carmel
On Saturday, July 11th, in Contrada Mondovì, Via Roma and Piazza Galimberti (Cuneo), from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM, there will be a solemn procession of the Madonna del Carmine, departing from the church of the Confraternity of San Giacomo and San Sebastiano (Contrada Mondovì). In addition to the heartfelt procession, the Committee has planned numerous events and initiatives starting July 5th.
THE CELEBRATION PROGRAM INCLUDES:
Sunday, July 5
• “Waiting for the Flower Festival,” 4:00 PM, San Sebastiano Diocesan Museum.
Free workshop for children aged 5 to 10, who will learn the secrets of tradition and prepare invitations to involve their families in the flower arrangement the following Saturday (registration required).
Monday, July 6
• “Dinner in the Contrada,” 8:00 PM, Mondovì district.
Traditional dinner that has been held for many years, featuring the participation of those who live and frequent the Mondovì district. You can bring your own food or dine at the various restaurants that manage and serve the dishes.
Thursday, July 9
• “A Thousand Lights on a Plate,” 8:00 PM, Via Roma.
Charity dinner in Via Roma, with proceeds going to support the activities of the Fiordaliso Social Cooperative and Ayla-La Casa delle Donne (reservations here).
Friday, July 10
• “Cuneo and Saint Francis of Assisi,” 6:00 p.m., departure from Piazza Foro Boario.
Guided tour of the historic center dedicated to the link between Cuneo and Saint Francis of Assisi (duration 2 hours), reservations required.
• “Sunshine Gospel Choir,” 9:30 p.m., Piazza Galimberti.
Musical entertainment with the prestigious “Sunshine Gospel Choir,” directed by Alex Negro and winner of the How Sweet The Sound competition in London as the best choir in Europe.
Saturday, July 11
• “Infiorata,” from 9:00 a.m., Mondovì district and Via Roma.
Volunteers from the “Madonna Carmine Celebrations” Committee and “Cuneo Illuminata,” along with the Confraternity of Santa Maria del Suffragio and San Filippo Neri of Sassello, will be the protagonists in the preparation of the wonderful flower petal mosaics that, starting in the morning, will color the Mondovì district and Via Roma to pay homage to the passage of the statue of the Madonna del Carmine during the procession. The invitation to collaborate is open to all citizens.
• “Cuneo, heart of Lombard-style Liberty architecture,” 4:00 p.m., departure from Lungogesso Corso Giovanni XXIII, 17 (entrance to the Dino Fresia gardens).
Guided tour to discover Liberty architecture in the city (duration 2 hours), reservations required.
• “Conservatory student performance,” from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Via Roma. Students from the Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo will perform in concert: the Wind Trio composed of Sara Facchinetti (flute), Vincenzo Sciacchitano (clarinet), Elisa Blangini (bassoon), and the Flute Duo of Marcella Mellano and Cecilia Martini.
• “Solemn Procession of the Madonna del Carmine,” 8:30 pm, Mondovì district, Via Roma, Piazza Galimberti.
The Solemn Procession will begin from the church of the Confraternity of San Giacomo and San Sebastiano, with the participation of over 40 Italian and foreign Confraternities. After the Liturgy of the Word, at approximately 9 pm, the Procession dedicated to the Queen of Mount Carmel will begin, walking across a carpet of flowers through the illuminated Mondovì district and Via Roma, and Piazza Galimberti, where the procession will stop to greet the civil and religious authorities.
Furthermore, from July 11th to 19th, the San Sebastiano Diocesan Museum (Mondovì district) will host the photographic exhibition “Visual Story of the Madonna del Carmine” by the “Cafè Fotografico”.
Sunday, July 12th
• “Bistolfi, Alloatti, Piatti. Immortal Liberty Expressions”, 10:00 am, departure from Via Basse S. Sebastiano, 29 (main entrance to the urban cemetery)
Guided tour to discover the Liberty tombs and monuments of the Urban Cemetery (duration 1 hour), reservation required
• “Among the history, art and traditions of the Cuneo area: abbeys and sanctuaries of the area”.
Departing by coach from Cuneo in the morning, it will be possible to participate in one of the proposed itineraries to some of the most significant places of worship in the province: the Certosa di Pesio, the Abbey of Staffarda, the Sanctuary of Sant'Anna di Vinadio or the Sanctuary of Castelmagno Information and reservations here.
