The first ship of Albanian refugees suddenly transformed Italy from a country left in search of something better to a place where people arrived to try to build their future.
Lorenzo Baravalle explores those moments and the stories that intertwined in that stretch of the Adriatic Sea, in a narrative that combines firsthand accounts with media accounts of those years, the impact on popular culture, and the causes of Albanian emigration. He reflects on how those events changed Italians and their self-perception.

Lorenzo Baravalle, born in 1990, is an author, pop culture communicator, and entrepreneur. He has written and hosted successful podcasts, such as Qui Si Fa L'Italia (Spotify Original) and Atomika (OnePodcast), which topped the charts in Italy.
He tours Italy with live events, recounting moments and personalities from our past, demonstrating how these stories are still reflected in our present. He has written for Outpump magazine, a digital and biannual print publication on pop culture. He teaches writing and audio content production courses in high schools.
