From the mouth of the Po to the summit of Monviso, an effort that is anything but useless
Screening of the documentary "A Mountain of Smiles" by Saluzzo photographer and filmmaker Paolo Cilli, which recounts the charitable undertaking accomplished between August 21 and 23, 2025, by Saluzzo athlete Marco Galliano. Galliano cycled 530 kilometers from Porto Tolle (Rovigo) to the 2,020-meter peak of Pian del Re (Crissolo), then hiked 12 kilometers to the 3,841-meter summit of Monviso. The goal was to raise funds for the "Il Fiore della Vita" association, which lovingly supports children and families in the Pediatrics, Neonatology, and Pediatric Hematology wards of Savigliano Hospital. The goal was achieved, with nearly €10,000 raised on the Rete del Dono platform.
The first screening of the documentary in Cuneo will be followed by a discussion in which Galliano and Cilli will converse with Stefano Quaglia, vice president of the association "Il Fiore della Vita." Moderated by Marika Abbà, environmental hiking guide and author of "The Untouched Face: The First Ascent of the Northwest Face of Monviso" (Fusta Editore). Topics covered will include the birth of the collaboration between Galliano and "Il Fiore della Vita," the most touching and challenging moments of the undertaking, the role of the support team, and upcoming solidarity initiatives.
At the end of the evening, admission is free but reservations are required on Eventbrite. You can support the "Il Fiore della Vita" association with a donation.
