Exhibition | SonicWunderkammer – Fausto Balbo's Solo Exhibition
The 19th-century rooms of Palazzo Samone in Cuneo are transformed into a unique soundscape with SonicWunderkammer, Fausto Balbo's solo exhibition organized by the Origami Cultural Association as part of the Fonorama festival.
The exhibition offers an immersive experience in the Garessio-born artist's sound sculptures, which inhabit the spaces like living presences: they dialogue, intermingle, and are activated by the visitor's passage. The result is a diverse and intimate environment, a true "sound wonder chamber," where listening and perception become profound, multisensory experiences.
SonicWunderkammer was born from the desire to begin with sound to activate new forms of listening and engagement with space. Balbo's works intertwine memory, matter, and technology, revealing a personal poetics in which the machine is no longer a simple instrument, but a living organism capable of generating emotions and reflections. The exhibition, featuring the most recent works, invites visitors to discover sound in its most intense and immediate dimension, offering an original and poetic perspective on technology and the passing of time.

Fausto Balbo (Garessio, Cuneo, 1970) is an artist who creates autonomous sound sculptures, in which sound manifests itself through the movement of elements sensitive to invisible forces. After years of experimentation with the construction of musical instruments, he has developed a research that combines art, technology, and matter, creating works in which the performer disappears and the sound arises from autonomous processes. He uses recycled materials and retrotechnology, reinterpreting their function to explore what operates in the invisible: vibrations, sounds, electromagnetic fields, and impulses that set the sculpture in motion. His works make the imperceptible perceptible, transforming the unfathomable into a sensorial experience and inviting the viewer to reflect on the imperfect and probabilistic balance that governs the reality of everything.
