COUNTERPOINT – FOUR VISIONS IN DIALOGUE
This is the second event organized by grandArte as part of the I confini del sacro (The Confines of the Sacred) series, which will feature a representative series of other art exhibitions in numerous locations across the province throughout 2025-2026. Following the previous edition of HELP, a noun and acronym for Humanity, Ecology, Liberty, Politics, held in 2022, the focus was on themes and considerations more specifically related to spirituality, understood in the broadest sense of the term, despite today's times dominated by secularization and the resulting widespread indifference to questions concerning the interior world, the relationship with the divine, and more generally, everything that constitutes the transcendent dimension. "Let's always listen, until the very end," writes Sergio Givone near the end of his essay entitled La ragione speranza. Come i filosofi hanno pensiero l'aldilà (Solferino, 2025). And this is what the new series of grandArte 2025-2026 exhibitions will seek to achieve: giving voice to the artists who will participate with their meditations in the form of images developed through a wide variety of expressive techniques (from painting to photography and from sculpture to object installations).
The title is an explicit reference to medieval music (punctum contra punctum). In the subtitle, the number four is a direct reference to the artists involved in this traveling exhibition. The word "dialogue" derives from the Ancient Greek diálogos (dià, "through," and logos, "speech"). The term "vision" comes from the Latin visio, derived from the past participle of the verb vidēre, meaning "to see."
