A meeting for families with young children, co-organized by the Municipality of Cuneo and NOAU officina culturale, as part of the "Farci Comunità Educante" program. Tablets, smartphones, TVs, educational videos: digital technology is increasingly entering children's lives. But how can we navigate this without falling into alarmism or overconfidence? How can we truly guide young children through a hyper-connected world, respecting their time, their needs, and the value of relationships? These are the questions addressed in the meeting "Beyond the Screen: Growing from 0 to 6 in the Digital Age," scheduled for Monday, February 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the 0-18 Library in Cuneo.
This event is designed specifically for families with children aged 0 to 6, but is also open to educators, teachers, and local professionals, to reflect together on how to integrate technology into everyday learning without being overwhelmed by it.
The initiative is part of a process co-designed by the Municipality of Cuneo and NOAU officina culturale, which focuses on the educational alliance between institutions, families, and the local community, valorizing childhood as a common good.
The guest speaker will be Giorgio Capellani, an engineer and teacher at Waldorf schools in Milan, and author of the book "Crescere nell'era digitale" (Il Capitello). After extensive experience in multinationals such as IBM and HP, Capellani has chosen to focus on educational training, bringing a perspective that combines technological expertise with the centrality of human relationships.
His approach is distinguished by its concreteness and accessibility: not a manual of prohibitions, but a guide to help parents and educators become aware of digital mentors, transforming screens and devices into opportunities for dialogue, discovery, and shared growth.
Presence, listening, and play remain at the core, as the foundations of an education capable of coexisting with technology without being dominated by it.
