Waiting: Alex Occelli's exhibition event
Sunday 21 December from 4pm to 7:30pm the installation in the Cloister of the Civic Museum
On the day that heralds the start of the winter season, an installation by Alex Occelli, composed of 14 canvases created with spray paint, will be installed in the Cloister of the Civic Museum of Cuneo. Spray paint, a medium that responds well to the need to keep the subjects undefined, and the absence of the painterly gesture emphasizes the transitory nature of the images. Blurry landscapes, like images loading onto a computer or smartphone screen, awaiting their opening: hence the title of the exhibition, Waiting. Now, when everything is photographed and shared on social media, putting us in the situation of being here and elsewhere simultaneously, attention is given here to an in-between moment, which places us in a state of being no longer present and not yet connected. An attempt to represent this phenomenon in transition. All this is accompanied by the gesture of walking around, which offers the experience of reliving the Cloister in its original function, as a place of passage, meditation, and prayer. Emptiness returns to being a potential space to inhabit, a reality to imagine, construct, and share. The choice to exhibit on this single day highlights the speed with which everything is consumed today.
