On Sunday, July 20th, the stage in Piazza Galimberti will host a project specifically designed for the Cuneo square. Ariacorte, one of the most popular traditional groups in Salento, will host Lou Dalfin frontman Sergio Berardo, along with a representative of the Grande Orchestra Occitana, for a blend of the dance music of the Valli d'Oc and the Salento rhythms of the Notte della Taranta, the traveling folk music festival that culminates in the Melpignano concert, featuring nationally and internationally renowned musicians.
Founded in 1996 in Diso, a small farming village located between the Marinas of Castro (Lecce) and Tricase (Lecce), and led by producer and artistic director Francesco Corvaglia, Ariacorte are among the most appreciated resurgence groups in Salento, not only for their albums but especially for their intense live activity. Despite some lineup changes, the group has distinguished itself by its constant research into traditional materials and a particular attention to sound, which, alongside a respect for traditional stylistic features, offers a careful reworking of timbres, rhythms, and harmonies, aiming to enhance the liveliness and spontaneity of Salento music. Their concept of "tradition," reinterpreted in a new "sonic translation," is therefore not the usual decoy, but rather a foundational concept upon which they build their sonic textures. Listening to Ariacorte, especially live, gives you the distinct feeling of being in the presence of a solid, well-structured group whose strengths lie in their chorus and rhythmic impact. This is music to make your heart sing, music made for dancing, for having fun, but also to be appreciated simply by listening for the beautiful sonic textures that shine through Lucia Passaseo's voice, Marianna Cariulo's flute, Emanuele Licci's guitar, Salvatore Corvaglia's diatonic accordion, and Chicco Costantini's mandola and violin, all supported by the tambourines of Rocco Borlizzi and the great virtuoso Carlo "Canaglia" De Pascali.
