Age Against The Machine
Dispari Teatro opens the doors of the former Church of Santa Chiara with the "Age Against the Machine" International Theatre Festival. This unique festival celebrates international and intergenerational collaboration through the performing arts, fostering dialogue and understanding between young and old. The event challenges stereotypes about aging and creates a platform to address "ageism," or ageism, by highlighting the richness of diverse perspectives between generations.
Over the course of three days, the festival will present five innovative theatre performances, each developed through collaborations between participants from Denmark, Portugal, Serbia, Poland, and Italy. These performances draw on the lived experiences of older people and are enriched by the creativity and energy of young artists.
Three days of innovative theatrical experiences
The three-day festival will feature five theatrical performances, all produced in collaboration between young and old. The performances will take place in the former Church of Santa Chiara in Cuneo. The space, which will be managed by the Dispari Teatro theater company, will later be renamed Officina Santa Chiara and will become a hub for theatrical creation with two theaters seating 400 people.
Why is it a big project?
Age Against the Machine addresses ageism in a creative and inclusive way. By engaging both young and old in artistic creation, the project highlights the often-overlooked knowledge and resources of older generations, while valuing the energy and fresh ideas of younger participants. It's not just about giving voice to older people, but about creating a platform for intergenerational dialogue—a dialogue that can contribute to building a more inclusive and diverse society.
