DispariTeatro is born

DispariTeatro is born

After more than forty years of intense activity, the historic Il Melarancio Company of Cuneo is renewing itself, transforming itself, and changing its name. It is joining forces with two other companies to create a new Theater Production CenterDispariTeatro.

DispariTeatro was born from the need to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving world, which requires new forms of communication, education, social interaction, and culture. The joining forces of the three companies responds to the need to open spaces for artistic and cultural innovation, creating a powerful, necessary, sustainable theater capable of speaking to new generations. DispariTeatro aims to lead Children's Theater and Social and Community Theater into the future.

Compagnia il Melarancio 's partners in this venture are Onda Teatro and Teatro Popolare Europeo . The former, like Il Melarancio, is a theatre production company for children and young people, recognized by the Ministry of Culture. The latter is a national reference point for social and community theatre, with cultural, psychosocial, and well-being objectives. DispariTeatro introduces important innovations: it is a unique project in Italy , the first experience to bring together Theatre for Children and Youth with Social and Community Theatre, creating a bridge between generations, cultures, and territories.

From the perspective of active management of cultural assets, DispariTeatro is the first in Piedmont and among the first in Italy to implement the Public-Private Social Partnership approach, establishing itself as a crucial player in an increasingly effective and inclusive regional cultural system. Always in harmony with the Piedmont Region, DispariTeatro pursues the innovative strategic line of encouraging the establishment of significant cultural institutions outside the Turin metropolitan area. Its headquarters will be in Cuneo, located between the historic Casetta Toselli and the former church of Santa Chiara, which is being reborn as a cultural hub and theater with two halls for a total of 400 seats. The second operational headquarters will be the Spazio BAC in Turin, a local theater in the Barolo district, a place of social and civic innovation, training, and education. The business strengthening generated by the merger will also favor theintegration of younger people into the professional landscape, consolidating the intergenerational, intersectoral, and multi-professional network.

With this change, DispariTeatro is not just a new name, but a vision for the future, a place where theater becomes a tool for dialogue, inclusion, and innovation. The community, the younger generations, and all culture lovers will find in Dispari Teatro a place poised to write a new chapter in the Italian theater scene.
