Franco Cordero (Cuneo, August 6, 1928 – May 8, 2020), a jurist and writer, after briefly practicing law, devoted himself exclusively to university teaching, focusing on the philosophy of law, criminal law, and criminal procedure. He taught at the Faculty of Law of the University of Trieste, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, the University of Turin, and La Sapienza University in Rome. He published editorials in the daily newspapers La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, l'Espresso, Micromega, l'Unità, il Fatto, Avanti, and numerous magazines. His textbook Procedura penale, completely rewritten after the 1988 reform of the Code, is one of the most important Italian texts on the subject. In addition to his legal publications, he wrote numerous essays and novels.
The Cuneo Civic Library has received, cataloged, and made available to the public all the books published by Franco Cordero. It has also received and digitized the non-legal articles he wrote, as well as the articles written about him, that have appeared in major publications over the years.
