A literature teacher at a high school in Milan, Stefano Fava has chosen social media to teach a more conscious, rich, and curious use of words. Born with his students in mind, the project quickly gained a much wider audience. On the Instagram page @piuscuolanellavita, through short reels, irony, and etymology, Fava invites everyone to rediscover the beauty of the Italian language and the pleasure of exploring its infinite nuances. This winning formula has now been translated into the book La soffitta delle parole (The Attic of Words, UTET, 2026): a journey through the hidden and forgotten treasures of our language. Stefano Fava was born in Lucca and graduated in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Pisa. He lived in the United Kingdom for fifteen years, where he taught Italian language and literature and creative writing at various English institutions, including Essex University and King's College London. In the British capital, he also founded and directed, from 2001 to 2012, an association for the promotion of Italian language and culture called Affinitalia. Since 2013, he has lived in Milan, where he teaches Italian literature and history at a local high school and is involved in various cultural activities. In 2023, he created the social media project @piuscuolanellavita, through which he shares historical, literary, and linguistic content on Instagram and TikTok. He also curates the podcast Che storia! and speaks at conferences and conventions around Italy.
