VOICES FROM HISTORY: Special opening of the "Bellavista" air raid shelter
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, the FAI Cuneo Delegation is exceptionally opening the doors of the "Bellavista" air raid shelter: an immersion in the city's history through one of its most symbolic sites.
This is a unique opportunity to rediscover one of the public shelters built during World War II to protect the population from bombing raids. The main entrance, usually hidden in the embankment next to the Bellavista descent, will be exceptionally accessible to the public: a passage to the past, amidst reinforced concrete walls, rammed earth, and eerie silences.
The opening, organized by the FAI Cuneo Delegation, will allow visitors to visit the initial section of the shelter, never before open. Thanks to an evocative installation, visitors will be able to relive the atmosphere of those long moments of waiting and fear, when sirens sounded the alarm and the city took refuge underground.
The tour is designed for small groups of 15 people, with staggered entry every 30 minutes, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Helmets will be provided to ensure safety during the visit, and comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended. The event will take place even in bad weather.
How to participate:
Suggested contribution starting from €5.00 – FAI members €3.00.
All contributions raised will go entirely to FAI to support projects to enhance and protect the country's artistic and natural heritage.
During the event, it will be possible to register with FAI directly on-site and immediately access the benefits of the membership.
