Resistenze returns under the stars for a special evening entirely dedicated to Duccio Galimberti, to remember the famous speech he gave on 26 July 1943 from the balcony of his studio in Cuneo.
Sunday 26 July, at 9pm at the Parco della Resistenza (stage area/behind Famù in the park) the event will be double:
reading by Lorenzo Baravalle, author and podcaster of “Qui si fa l'Italia”, “Atomika” and “Frate Mitra” at the top of the Italian listening charts, recently elected “Citizen of the Year” by La Stampa
followed by a screening of the documentary “Duccio Galimberti – il tempo dei testimoni” by Teo De Luigi (2005, 65′)
To attend the event, the public is invited to bring a personal blanket to use as a seat.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Cuneo together with Tavolo Resistenze.

Lawyer, Mazzinian Europeanist, anti-fascist, partisan, national hero, Gold Medal for Military Valor recipient: Tancredi “Duccio” Galimberti was all this.
On July 25, 1943, in a sudden turn of events, Mussolini was deposed and Marshal Badoglio was appointed head of government in Rome. News of the fall of Fascism spread rapidly. Throughout the country, ravaged by years of war and deprivation, popular rejoicing erupted, the destruction of fascist symbols began, and political parties reemerged, believing that the end of the regime and the end of hostilities were immediately and inevitably linked. This was not to be; the struggle was only just beginning.
The following day in Cuneo was particularly eventful: gatherings, attacks on the headquarters of the National Fascist Party and the homes of its leaders. In what was then Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, a crowd gathered to listen to a brief speech by former Liberal minister Marcello Soleri, and then, from the large terrace of his home, to one by Duccio Galimberti, a lawyer with close ties to anti-fascist circles in Turin and one of the founders of the Action Party. The speech has not survived in manuscript form nor has it been transcribed in its entirety, but based on multiple testimonies, a reconstruction has been made that is unanimously recognized as reliable: "...The war continues... Yes, the war continues until the last German is expelled, until the last vestiges of the fascist regime disappear, until the victory of the Italian people who rebel against Mussolini's tyranny, but do not join an oligarchy that seeks, by throwing Mussolini overboard, to save itself at the expense of the Italians."
