On Tuesday, October 7th, guitarist Andrea Monarda will perform in a concert included in the Ghedini Artistic Season, the final event of Guitar Project 2025, the traditional guitar festival. The concert will be held at the Cantore building of the Cuneo Conservatory (Via Pascal 9, second floor, room 6) at 8:30 pm.

Andrea Monarda, an internationally renowned guitarist, particularly stands out in the interpretation of contemporary music, having premiered over twenty compositions, many of which were dedicated to him: he is not only a high-level performer, but also a researcher and musicologist specializing in contemporary Italian music.

A contemporary Italian piece will open the concert: "Ties," which intertwines intimate and delicate melodic suggestions with a modern language, creating an atmosphere suspended between introspection and lyricism. The composer is Rosalba Quindici, professor of Theory, Analysis, Composition, and Conducting at the "Maderna Lettimi" Conservatory of Music in Cesena and Rimini, who will be present. Monarda will then perform "Fantasia sobre "La Traviata" by Francisco Tárrega, a virtuoso guitar reworking of Verdi's celebrated melodies in which refined technique blends with the opera's melodic brilliance, and "Twelve Etudes" by Heitor Villa-Lobos, a seminal collection of 20th-century guitar pieces that blends advanced instrumental technique and traditional Brazilian rhythms with European influences. The closing piece will be "Sequenza XI" by Luciano Berio, whose centennial birth anniversary will be commemorated in October. The composition is one of the most complex in the contemporary guitar repertoire, exploring the instrument's timbral and gestural limits with an expressive and experimental language.
