Giovanni Cerutti presents “The French in Cuneo 1796-1814”
"The French in Cuneo 1796-1814" is the title of a book by Giovanni Cerutti, published by Primalpe, that charts the events of the Napoleonic period in the Cuneo area. The book will be presented by the author on Wednesday, June 4, at 6:00 PM, in the Hall of Honor of Cuneo Town Hall. In approximately 90 pages, Cerutti succinctly and accurately describes the key events resulting from the French Revolution and the end of the French monarchy, weaving a narrative piece by piece, contextualizing dates and events in the area within national and European history. The book aims to help us trace the effects of the Napoleonic period, which shaped the region's development, in Cuneo today: some of these effects are still visible, others have faded over time, despite their historical importance. “The French in Cuneo 1796-1814” offers an opportunity to discover a little-told chapter in the city's history and, at the same time, contributes to the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities, of which Cuneo has been a member since November 2024. Mayor Patrizia Manassero will also be speaking at the meeting.
