Cuneo, Palazzo Santa Croce: a day of meetings on January 29th to imagine new cultural spaces dedicated to young people

On Wednesday, January 29, the Municipality of Cuneo is organizing a day of meetings and participatory activities dedicated to the presentation and implementation of the YBC – Young Based Community, a cultural and social regeneration initiative made possible by a significant contribution from ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities). This initiative will lead to the creation of a new multipurpose cultural center in the heart of the historic center, managed directly by Under35.
The initiative is part of a broader transformation of the Santa Croce area and the so-called "City of Culture," which sees the Palazzo at the center of a major redevelopment project and the future location of the new Civic Library. The ground floor spaces on Via Santa Croce, already partially used as an exhibition space, will be the subject of an activation and co-planning process aimed at their future assignment to external management.
“The YBC project represents a fundamental piece of the Administration's vision for the entire city and for youth policies,” said Mayor Patrizia Manassero. “We have repeatedly heard young people's requests and needs for spaces. For this reason, now, by returning the beautiful spaces of Palazzo Santa Croce to the city, we have chosen to open them up to the participation, creativity, and initiative of young people, so that they become lived-in, sustainable places capable of generating new opportunities.”
“Investing in culture and young people means investing in the future of the city,” added Councilor for Culture and Youth Policies Cristina Clerico. “With YBC, we are embarking on a journey that unites urban regeneration, social innovation, and sustainability, building spaces that truly serve the community.”
January 29th will be divided into two distinct sessions, designed to engage different audiences:
In the morning, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, is planned for institutions, associations, and businesses with shareholders under 35. For the presentation of the project, a moment of discussion and guided engagement, and a site visit to the ground floor of Palazzo Santa Croce, which is currently being assigned. At 5:30 pm, on the ground floor of Palazzo Santa Croce (Via Santa Croce 6), an activation and listening session reserved for people under 35. It will be a participatory and informal meeting, facilitated again by Metodi, designed to gather ideas, needs, and desires of young people from Cuneo regarding the future use of the spaces. The goal of the YBC project is to create a multipurpose cultural center capable of combining culture, creativity, sociality, and sustainability, strengthening the role of Palazzo Santa Croce as a place of aggregation and cultural and social innovation.
The activities carried out will directly influence the design and publication of a call for applications for the assignment of the spaces.
