Christmas Concert – FFM Classical Orchestra

Concluding the many events promoted by the Fossano Musica Foundation for the month of December, the long-awaited Christmas concerts with the FFM Classica Orchestra are a must. This year, too, three dates are scheduled in Fossano, Cuneo, and Bra, for a project that extends well beyond the walls of the city of Acaja. On Tuesday, December 23, at 9:00 pm, it will be Cuneo's turn, at the Teatro Toselli. Tickets cost €5 and can be booked on the Fossano Musica Foundation website. However, seat assignments will not be possible. The star of the three evenings will, as usual, be the FFM Classica Orchestra, founded in 2018 within the Department of Classical Music and currently conducted by Maestro Aldo Salvagno. The Orchestra is now a stable entity where students and faculty share a complete symphonic journey: from individual study and section work, to ensemble rehearsals and the concert. This year's program includes the Suite from "The Nutcracker" by P.I. Tchaikovsky and a wide selection of traditional Christmas songs. Christmas concerts are designed to be an opportunity to gather around the melodies that have always marked the anticipation of the holidays. Making this possible are many diverse organizations that, strongly believing in the value of culture, support the work of the Fossano Musica Foundation year-round. Special thanks go to the Municipality of Fossano and the Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano Foundation for their ongoing support, as well as to the Ministry of Culture, the Piedmont Region, the Cassa di Risparmio di Torino Foundation, the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation, and the Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano SpA Foundation. FFM Classica Orchestra – Conductor, Maestro Aldo Salvagno
Founded in 2018 through the collaboration of the Classical Music Department of the Fossano Musica Foundation and supported by the invaluable contribution of Maestro Julius Kalmar, the FFM Classica Orchestra is a permanent symphonic laboratory where faculty and students play side by side on the original scores of the great masters. This model combines professionalism and inclusion: individual and section study flows into ensemble rehearsals leading up to the concert, offering a comprehensive educational program and strong civic and social value. Artistically, the orchestra has brought to the local area—in Fossano, Bra, Cuneo, Casale Monferrato, and Cento (FE)—masterpieces by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Rossini, Wagner, Brahms, Dvořák, as well as major symphonic-choral projects such as Orff's Carmina Burana. It has also collaborated with prominent soloists such as Sofya Gulyak, Gabriele Amarù, Mica Yatsugi, Andrea Stefenell, and Paolo Montagna, enriching its own interpretive experience and broadening the dialogue between young musicians and established artists.
Alongside its classical repertoire, the FFM Classica Orchestra also looks to the present: in the summer of 2023, under the direction of Maestro Salvagno, it paid homage to Ennio Morricone with a tribute concert dedicated to his unforgettable film production, introducing new audiences to the symphony and promoting instrumental practice in the provinces.
Great masterpieces, a great orchestra: an ongoing activity that educates musicians, creates community, and takes great music to places it has never been before.
