Home support for the dignity of life
. From the moment we are born, the only certainty on the journey that awaits us is the end. But the certainty of death must in no way be linked to suffering, much less the loss of dignity.
Despite the great advances in palliative care and hospice programs, many families still find themselves alone caring for a terminally ill patient. At home, the pain of the approaching loss coexists with the heartbreak of seeing a loved one suffer, often losing the dignity that should be protected until the end.
Over 35 years ago, in the Cuneo area, a group of volunteers, driven by the belief that all this was profoundly unfair, founded the ADAS – Home Assistance for the Suffering association, which later became a Foundation, with the aim of helping patients and families make this final step less burdensome and, above all, ensure that the dignity of death is not compromised. With a network of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, and volunteers, more than 3 million kilometers have been traveled to help approximately 4,000 patients and ease the anguish of a painful loss for them and their families. Being entirely volunteer-based, ADAS's remarkable work relies on donations, bequests, and the generosity of citizens, based on the belief that a community's value also lies in its ability to care for those who suffer.
The ADAS Foundation dreams of establishing a hospice in Cuneo to provide a protected space for patients and their families, allowing them to choose how to face the final step of this journey.
Aiming to actively participate in this dream, the CORO CAI UGET of Turin, a historic choir and one of the oldest in Piedmont, enthusiastically accepted the invitation from Franco BOSCO, a chorister from Cuneo and a lover of soul music, to perform a benefit concert for ADAS.
On Saturday, November 28, at 8:30 PM, at SALA SAN GIOVANNI, located at Via ROMA 4 in CUNEO, a program of Italian folk songs, sacred music, and modern influences will resound, creating a sort of journey through the musical pentagram of life, our history, and the various and intricate connections between living beings that make our earthly journey an adventure to be experienced.
The presence of each individual who wishes to join us will enrich us with energies that, only when shared, can give rise to that synergy we call Love, the only force capable of bringing Light into the darkness of pain.
Confident that the city of Cuneo will answer the call of solidarity, we look forward to seeing you at the first note ringing through the vaulted ceilings of the hall dating back to the ancient church of San Giovanni Decollato.
