MONDOVISIONI – Internazionale documentaries in Cuneo

For the past 17 years, the Mondovisioni festival has presented some of the most compelling and urgent documentaries on current affairs, human rights, and information, selected from major festivals by CineAgenzia and the weekly magazine Internazionale. The documentaries are Italian premieres, in the original language with subtitles.

Noau officina culturale brings the festival to Cuneo, enriching it with talks by international guests, every third Tuesday of the month from January to June 2026.

The 2026 edition of Mondovisioni invites viewers to a new encounter, without simplification or censorship, with six stories, themes, and scenarios, in an increasingly unstable and standardized world, but where the experiences shared by these documentaries offer stubborn glimmers of hope.

For the first time, the festival looks to Cuba, chronicling the country's crisis and the struggle for regime change, constantly at risk of exploitation, in "Night Is Not Eternal." It also delves behind the scenes of academia with "The Shadow Scholars," an investigation into the global market for articles and university theses produced in Kenya for Western students. We return to two central themes in contemporary debate: migration with "The Guest," a moving tale of solidarity on Europe's doorstep, told through the encounter between a Polish family and a young Syrian man on the run; and freedom of expression with "The Dialogue Police," about the work of a Swedish police unit committed to defending it at all costs in an increasingly polarized geopolitical landscape. It's inevitable to continue our focus on Gaza with "The Life That Remains," the debut feature by Arab cinema superstar Dorra Zarrouk, who, through the memories and images of a Palestinian family in exile, offers a unique glimpse into the life that once existed and continues to exist in the Strip. And if in the face of certain tragedies, envisioning a future seems impossible, an extraordinary lesson in resilience comes from fifteen-year-old Mexican girl Karla, the protagonist of “Niñxs,” who guides us on a journey of self-discovery, navigating her gender transition alongside the joys and uncertainties of adolescence, and society's prejudices.
