March 8 is all year round – November 25, 2025

Cuneo turns red again this November, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with the usual event that has grown year after year thanks to the collaboration of the network formed around the theme. The Municipality of Cuneo renews its commitment with a rich and varied event that extends throughout the month of November and beyond, involving schools, associations, institutions, and citizens.

The event, promoted by the Department of Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination, features meetings, performances, workshops, walks, activities, and reflections to raise awareness of gender-based violence and promote a culture of respect and solidarity.

This year's theme is "Ties that Untie Knots," an expression that signifies how the secret often lies in seeing things from a different perspective, in having the courage to untie knots that are difficult not only to untie, but even to perceive alone. Strong, and good, bonds, in this perspective, also include local communities, which together are walking a shared path, building a network that aims, together, to promote a culture of respect that involves everyone, women and men, starting with a firm and constructive NO to violence.

The event opens with two events resulting from the collaboration with Stracôni: on Saturday, November 8th, a meeting on the role of Safeguarding in sport, aimed at sports associations and clubs, and on Sunday, November 9th, Stracôni in Red, a repeat event following last year's success. All participants in the city race are encouraged to wear red, to say no to violence and contribute to bringing about change. Red, in fact, symbolizes the women who are no longer with us, killed by husbands, lovers, partners, and abusive men.

There will also be no shortage of women's self-defense courses, always highly popular, for which registration is open until November 25th, with courses starting in January 2026 and an introductory lesson on December 10th.

The events will continue throughout the month, with the highlight in the period closest to November 25th: including initiatives to animate the red benches , organized by the entities that have adopted them, conferences , moments of discussion and exchange, readings , concerts and stories that can help understand and prevent.

Tuesday, November 25th is the busiest day. Other events include "What Kind of Communication? Verbal Violence and Gender Stereotypes. Who Do I Turn to for Help?" at 5:30 pm in the Hall of Honor of the City Hall. An in-depth discussion on gender violence in images and language, presented by Acda and Spa, and the panel discussion "There's Language and Language."

Closing the series, on Saturday, November 29th at 9:00 PM in the Sala San Giovanni, is "A come...," a story featuring songs, reflections, readings, and thoughts "out loud" about true stories, about "ties that untie knots." A cross between a musical and a concert, it explores real-life experiences, even difficult ones, and offers a glimpse of hope. Admission is free while seats last. The event is organized by Mai+Sole odv.

The event was created to raise awareness of the existence of a network of local services where help can be sought. In 2024, 210 women were assisted by the CAV (Anti-Violence Center 10A) offices, and 69 women continued their support. Unfortunately, this trend is increasing.

Established in May 2008, the Cuneo Anti-Violence Network is comprised of all public and private social actors involved in the fight against violence against women in the Cuneo area. The Network was created to improve collaboration and networking among the various organizations and associations involved, becoming a place for meeting and discussion, development and experimentation, in search of best practices capable of effectively combating violence against women.
