Cuneo Civic Library - 2024 Statistics
Civic libraries closed 2024 with positive figures across all key service indicators .
In particular, the total number of loans and the number of active users are growing , as well as the number of reservations and users of the digital service .
Below are some detailed data for the past year, showing the changes compared to the previous year.
TOTAL LOANS
Loans increased by 5.2% (77,000 recorded in 2024, compared to 73,169 in 2023). This represents the sum of loans from the civic library, the 0-18 library, the Cuneo Sud children's library, and the Media Library On Line digital loan service. Details for the respective services are provided below.
CIVICA LOANS
: Physical loans are up 6.7% (36,305 compared to 34,023). Book loans are up 5.8% (34,775 compared to 32,855), while audiovisual loans are up 23.1% (1,076 compared to 874), perhaps also thanks to the change in loan duration from three to seven days.
LOANS FOR KIDS 0-18
Overall, the 0-18 library also showed a positive trend, with a 3.0% (26,250 compared to 24,248). Book loans totaled a 2.9% increase (25,740 compared to 25,306), while audiovisual loans decreased but grew by 6.8% (469 compared to 439).
LOANS IN CUNEO SUD
Loans from the Cuneo Sud children's library are also increasing, despite the long summer closure, necessary to recatalogue all the holdings and computerize the loan system: +5.6% (2,177 compared to 2,061).
RETURN BOXES
Use of the two 24-hour boxes is growing, recording a 5.7% increase (for a total of 28,857 returns compared to 27,311). Returns made in the boxes account for 46.1% of total loans, meaning that nearly half of all loans are returned outside of libraries. Specifically, the civic library's box increased by 3.3% (14,477 compared to 14,020) and the 0-18 library's box by 8.2% (14,380 compared to 13,291).
RESERVATIONS
Further growth for the reservation service (requests for books currently on loan), which recorded a +12.5% (1,951 SMS alerts, compared to 1,734). In particular, the civic library recorded a +15.2% (1,815 compared to 1,575), the 0-18 library a -14.5% (136 compared to 159).
ACTIVE CARDS
Active cards (those that have logged at least one item during the year) also showed a positive trend, up 6.6% (6,016 compared to 5,646). Specifically, they increased 3.8% (3,521 compared to 3,391) in the public library and 10.6% (2,495 compared to 2,255) in the children's library.
NEW MEMBERSHIP CARDS
Significant growth also occurred in the addition of new members, up 23.4% (1,391 compared to 1,127). The civic library grew by 34.4% (687 compared to 511), and the children's library grew by 14.3% (704 compared to 616).
DIGITAL SERVICES
The MLOL service also saw further growth: portal accesses increased by 5.2% (265,322 compared to 252,312), and unique users increased by 4.9% (2,452 compared to 2,337). Periodical consultations increased by 3.7% (319,672 compared to 308,179), while ebook loans increased by 5.8% (12,268 compared to 11,598).
