Traveling with Olympe

Olympe de Gouges, playwright and political activist, is one of the most radical and visionary figures of the French Revolution. In 1791, she published the Declaration of the Rights of Woman and of the Female Citizen, openly challenging the authorities and paying with her life for her freedom of thought. Erased from official history for centuries, she is today recognized as a pioneer of feminism.

TRAVELING WITH OLYMPE stages her story through an original narrative device: the story is told by Francine, a baker's daughter, whom Olympe meets during the Women's March on Versailles. This encounter will forever shape the young woman's life and allows the show to intertwine grand history with everyday microhistory.

The dialogue between the two women is set against the backdrop of the Enlightenment and a Revolution destined to change the course of events, giving the story an intimate and accessible dimension. Words and live music merge in a dramatic score in which voice and instrument interact, intertwine, and harmonize, creating an emotional rhythm that accompanies the narrative.

Designed for girls and boys aged 12 and up, the show addresses pressing current issues such as gender equality, respect for minorities, freedom of speech and active citizenship, proposing the figure of Olympe de Gouges as an example of participation, responsibility and civic engagement.

Entrance fee: 8 euros, reduced 6 euros for those under 18.
