The screening of the documentary Bruno: a portrait

Continuing the initiatives promoted as part of Scrittorincittà,
the calendar of events in Cuneo to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the publication of Nuto Revelli's Anello forte (Einaudi, 1985) concludes on Thursday, November 27 | 8:45 pm | with the screening of the documentary Bruno: a portrait of James David Spellman at the CDT room of the Historical Institute of the Resistance in Cuneo (Largo Barale 1, Cuneo).

From negatives to film, the incredible life of Alba photographer Bruno Murialdo, immortalized by his friend and American journalist James David Spellman in his documentary, reaches the Big Apple, where it earns a spot as a finalist at the New York International Film Awards: no small achievement for a film made by a group of friends rather than colleagues.

The film traces the life and work of Bruno Murialdo, who for over forty years has been capturing the lives of the people of Piedmont and beyond: from the trifolau (truffle hunters) who scour the woods at night with their dogs searching for truffles, to the characters who inhabit trattorias, cafés, castles, vineyards, and farms.
A handcrafted documentary born from Bruno Murialdo and J.D. Spellman's shared passion for chronicling the people and places they inhabit.

Director Spellman recalls:
"I fondly remember the day we recorded the interview in Bruno's photography studio. It wasn't really an interview, as is evident from the surprising timeframe in which it was shot, but rather a life that unfolded in a continuous flow—except for the coffee break—in front of the camera."
