The power of ideas • Shared naming of Palazzo Santa Croce and conference by Massimo Polidoro
Monday, March 30 , 9 pm, Toselli Theatre • Free , online reservations
The city's new cultural hub will open in the autumn , in Palazzo Santa Croce.
It will be the new home of the Civic Library, but will also offer the local community spaces for reading and studying, a literary café with adjoining rooms specifically designed for young people, and locations for workshops and performances, including an internal courtyard.
Santa Croce aims to become a hub for the city: a vibrant place where people meet, connect, and grow together. A natural hub for sharing and gathering for all ages, a place where people can meet and reconnect.
Construction is nearing completion, and we're now working on the brand identity . Over the months of restoration, we've repeatedly surveyed the public's expectations and needs. And we want this last, crucial step to be taken together.
On March 30th at 9:00 PM, at the Toselli Theater, Hellobarrio, the agency behind the creative project, will present the brand and invite residents to choose between two naming options for the main spaces that will characterize the cultural center.
Following this, Massimo Polidoro will present the lecture "The Power of Ideas: Why Learning Together Changes the World":
The Power of Ideas: Why Learning Together Changes the World
Ideas don't just travel through books or lectures. They travel, above all, through stories. This is how knowledge has always been transmitted: from prehistoric campfire tales to today's podcasts and social media. But why do stories work so well? What happens in our brains when we listen to a story, when we empathize with someone, or when an idea captures us? In this talk, Massimo Polidoro will explore the psychological and neuroscientific mechanisms that make communication effective: empathy, curiosity, and the human need for meaning. Because understanding how ideas are born and spread helps us not only better describe the world, but also build places—like libraries and cultural spaces—where people can meet, share knowledge, and imagine the future together.
Starting that evening, it will be possible to participate in the vote for a few weeks, online, on the website cuneocultura.it
Participation in the event is free, but reservations are required.
