The Heart in the Old Way, the Mind in the Future

On Friday, April 11, the Civic Library will host the presentation of the book The Old-Fashioned Heart, the Mind of the Future by Maria Teresa Gostoni.

A fitting tribute to the great writer Franco Piccinelli, on the tenth anniversary of his death, but also an important opportunity to disseminate his writings.
Piccinelli's work documents, narrates, and interprets peasant culture from the late 19th century to the 20th century, as it gradually declined and surrendered to the new industrial civilization.
Piccinelli's lens focuses primarily on the Langhe, yet without neglecting broader regional and national horizons, to create—as narrator and poet, journalist and essayist—a profound, lucid, and empathetic exploration of the human destinies involved, actively or passively, as protagonists or victims, in that process of socioeconomic, cultural, and anthropological transformation that Pasolini called the "Italian trauma" of the twentieth century.
