An investigation into the theme of wealth, luxury, and its exclusivity. We are so immersed in the paradox of some having so much and others having very little or nothing at all that its possible disappearance would shock us.

Privilege, in short, to remain so, must be "exclusive"—that is, excluding—and therefore reserved for a few. The first class exists in function of the second, and without the second, it would have no measure of its wealth, because the true content of wealth seems to be, first and foremost, the certainty—and the inexplicable relief that comes from it—that others have less.
