Scrittorincittà 28th edition – November 11-15, 2026
From Wednesday, November 11th, until November 15th, 2026, scrittorincittà returns to Cuneo, with hundreds of guests and over 200 scheduled meetings. The twenty-eighth edition of the festival coincides with a special moment for the entire city: for the first time, the new ESSECI cultural center. In addition to housing the Civic Library's book collection, reading and study rooms, and various spaces dedicated to young people, the facility thus best expresses its vocation as a meeting place, with events in the Auditorium and sclab, a hybrid space for workshops, performances, and exhibitions. After its inauguration at the end of September, the event will be an opportunity for Cuneo residents and visitors to experience this new reality.
A true cultural event of the year, scrittorincittà extends far beyond its intense five-day program. Rather, the festival represents the culmination of a year-round reading promotion initiative, involving schools, associations, and the public. From poetry to nonfiction, from fiction to (auto)biographical texts, the festival offers audiences the opportunity to rediscover their favorite authors while also discovering new and stimulating discoveries.
scrittorincittà is an initiative of the Municipality of Cuneo, in collaboration with the Province of Cuneo and the Piedmont Region, and is organized by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Cuneo and the Civic Library.
The event is supported by the main sponsors Fondazione CRC and Fondazione CRT, by the sponsors Confindustria Cuneo, Confcommercio Cuneo, by the technical sponsors Open Baladin, Birra Baladin, Cuneo Rent, Informatica System, Castelmar, Copro, Coldiretti Cuneo, and Acqua Eva. It is organized in collaboration with ABL-Association of Friends of Libraries and Reading ODV ETS, Europe Direct Cuneo, ACDA, ALC-Association of Booksellers Cuneo, and ATL-Local Tourist Board of Cuneo. The event is organized with the patronage of the European Commission Representation in Milan; La Stampa and Rai Radio Kids are media partners, and Radio GRP is the official radio station.
The program is curated by Stefania Chiavero, Matteo Corradini, Raffaele Riba, Giorgio Scianna, and Andrea Valente.
The theme for 2026 is WINDOWS: books as glimpses of the world passing by, with panoramas that attract and intrigue, ever-changing, and that even when it's dark outside... reflect. They reflect the faces of those who look at them, the faces of those around them: they prompt reflection on this world awaiting humanity, which passes through people, identities, stories, books, and technologies. This is the common thread running through all the events on the calendar, with particular attention to the section dedicated to children, young people, and their families. This will include discussions on self-care and caring for others, recognizing one's emotions, and the meaning of growing up, as well as themes that characterize our contemporary world, such as migration, climate, artificial intelligence, and conflict. These will be addressed using age-appropriate language, through animated readings, workshops, and moments of dialogue. While the school program takes place in the mornings from Wednesday to Friday, the meetings open to the public begin in the afternoon until evening during the week and all day on weekends, involving the entire city with its fourteen locations.
