Pasolini. Why? (Chille de la Balanza – Florence)
The most contemporary Italian writer of all time? Fifty years after his death, Pier Paolo Pasolini continues to speak to us with a clarity that cuts through the present. The Florentine collective Chille de la Balanza brings to the stage, for our series dedicated to young adults, "A View of the World," a performance that explores his most vivid and necessary thought. Fifty years after the death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, "Pasolini. Why?" is not a commemoration, nor a biography, but a call, an urgent, searing theatrical act that takes shape in the darkness of a sleeping, hypnotized, anesthetized world. Pasolini is not celebrated. He is restored to his truest function: that of a witness who descends into hell and returns to recount his eyes, as he wrote, which have seen "many things." And those things today concern us all. Pasolini warned: there are no longer human beings, but strange machines crashing into each other.
The performance is written as an emotional and political score, constructed to wound and to remember.
