It is March 1759 and a jury of twelve women has been convened by a judge to decide whether or not it is right to execute a woman for murder in the midst of her pregnancy.

Set in mid-eighteenth-century rural England, The Empyrean is dry, harsh, realistic, and incredibly contemporary.
