Dream

The play is loosely based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's first comic masterpiece, the most magical of his comedies, a blend of romantic love affairs, pathetic sentimentality, captious erotic fantasies, savory jest, and fairytale deception. It intersects folklore and classical literature, myth and fable, where the plot, which concerns lovers, is enriched and complicated by the misunderstanding of love. The characters in A Midsummer Night's Dream act in an atmosphere of folklore and superstition, in the heat of summer, in the madness of uninhibited natural impulses. We meet Theseus and Hippolyta (whose court provides the setting for the love story); the Four Lovers who flee Athens and whose adventures in the woods form the main plot; Oberon and Titania with their amorous woes; Puck, whose mistake pulls the strings of the four lovers' fates; A group of improvised comedians, including Bottom, who, with his donkey's head, shares a visionary love with Titania, Queen of the Fairies, who transforms vulgar things into sublime forms.
The show poses two central questions: Can we transform the meaning of "dream" into that of "vision"? Do love and dreams transform reality? We could say that if we dream when we love, in the "moment of love" we no longer see reality for what it is, but we could also argue that love and dreams can shape reality, because that's what happens inside each of us.
