DANCE IS WOMAN
An evening dedicated to women, to their many facets... A tribute by Raphael Bianco dedicated to all women.
The evening features:
SHE SCREAMS. A work about love, set to the scathing songs of Janis Joplin: fragments of passion and pain, fragility and strength, sweetness and madness. The immense power of love, which can be devastating or life-giving, seen through a kaleidoscopic gestural portrait focused on three women, accompanied by their rough, passionate voices.
BRIDES OF GOD – in memory of Aliyamma Puthiyedom. After a period of residency and research between India and Italy, Raphael Bianco presents a creation inspired by the heritage of classical Indian dance. The work draws on the now critically revisited theme of the Devadasis, historical figures of women dedicated to dance and the divine, dedicating their body and soul to art, community, and the deities.
