Book on Screen • The Help
From books to the big screen... in the library! A program for kids ages 11 to 18
Friday, May 9, 9 p.m. > Cuneo Library 0-18 (via Santa Croce 6)
When the evocative power of books and the power of cinema meet, something magical happens. Book on Screen is an event to experience this magic: a library movie for kids ages 11 to 18, featuring a film based on a book to discover, experience, and share together. Read, watch, experience the story!
For this evening, we suggest screening the film The Help. Set in 1960s Mississippi, in an America still divided by racism, it tells the story of a young aspiring writer who decides to tell the unheard stories of black women working as domestic workers in the homes of white families. Thus is born a courageous alliance between very different women, united by a desire for justice and change. A powerful, moving, and humane film, based on the novel by Kathryn Stockett.
We'll take care of the popcorn and drinks! Evening hosted by Noau Officina Culturale.
