Book presentation by Bronka Halpern
As part of the “Through Memory 2026” program, the Italian translation of Bronka Halpern's book Ray of Light in the Darkness, edited by Adriana Muncinelli and Luca Vallone for the magazine “Il presente e la storia” of the Historical Institute of the Resistance of Cuneo, will be presented on Thursday, September 10, at 6:00 pm, at the CDT Hall in Cuneo (Largo Giovanni Barale 1).
The meeting will be led by Gigi Garelli, director of the Historical Institute of the Resistance and Contemporary Society in the Province of Cuneo.
A young Jewish refugee, Bronka Halpern became a doctor for the partisans of the Free Italy group and, for six months, the doctor for the entire Rittana Valley. Her memory spans five years of history, from Nice and Saint-Martin-Vésubie to the Gesso and Stura Valleys, continuing on to Turin, Florence, and finally Rome, first occupied by the Germans and then finally liberated.
